Consistency.
Consistency. Consistency. Consistency.
We can’t say it enough. Sure, making cardio, strength, and flexibility part of your routine is key, but you know what matters even more? The fact that you stick with it.
The biggest barrier to staying consistent, however, is TIME. Time is our most valuable asset and there are so many things competing for the same 24 hours- work, family, personal time, and yes, SLEEP!
Often we will allow our fitness plans to get side-tracked due to lack of time. But here's the thing- even short bouts of exercise have benefits. A 2022 European Heart Journal study found that just 15 minutes of vigorous activity per week was associated with a reduced risk of of all-cause mortality (that's about 2.5 minutes/day). These little bits of movement add up over time and contribute to overall health and can improve your mood and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. (BMC Public Health, 2018).
BDY classes range from 45-60 minutes long. If you don’t have time for a full class, we ask that you be on time, and simply let the instructor know you have to leave early. For cycling get by the door, and slip out once you hit your sweat goal. For other studio classes, leave your equipment, and the instructor will take care of it.
For yoga, we always recommend staying for savasana, but if you must leave early, do so prior to that yummy down time.
5, 10, 15 minutes- it all adds up. If you can’t stay for a whole class, come and stay for some because something is better than nothing. Don’t let lack of time be your excuse. Make the most of the time you have and just move!
